Even the Fallen – Full Version

This song was written to pay homage to those men and women (and dogs :-)) who died in war to preserve our freedom. We cannot ever forget what the cost was to protect our way of life for generations to come. We must NEVER forget. This is the original full version, posted here for interest sake. I really like this, even though it is wayyyy too long.

Cover art for Even the Fallen

I had a brother

Not brothers in blood.

Loved one another

Though we scrapped in the mud.

He never gave in

He never gave out

But oh how I miss him

Now that he’s not about

My brother is gone

Died in a tent.

My brother lives on

In the letters he sent.

Even the fallen

Are a part of it all.

Fighting for freedom

So we can stand tall.

Never a question

Never a cry

Even the fallen

Never ask why

I had a sister

Danced in a field

Danced along with her

Her heart as her shield.

She was  woman

She was a friend

Ideas convictions

She would not bend

So full of valor

Standing so strong.

Before I could tell her

She sang her last song

Even the fallen

Are part of it all.

Fighting for freedom

So we can stand tall

Never a question

Never a cry

Oh even the fallen

Never ask why

Oh they were

Falling, falling like rain

They were falling

But not falling in vain

On a wide open plain

So the rose can bloom again

Now they’re just a memory

Here in my heart

They’re cracked and they’re crumpled

And faded as hell

Now, I’ve got their pictures

Saved on my phone

I Call out their names

When I’m here all alone.

Wait for an answer

The midnight chill.

A stir in my heart

Dancing there still.

Even the fallen

Are part of it all.

Fighting for freedom

So we can stand tall

Never a question

Never a cry

Oh even the fallen

Never ask why

Even the fallen

Are part of it all

Fighting for freedom

‘So we can stand tall

Never a question

Never a cry

Even the fallen

Never ask why
