Even the Fallen

This song was written to pay homage to those men and women (and dogs :-)) who died in war to preserve our freedom. We cannot ever forget what the cost was to protect our way of life for generations to come. We must NEVER forget.

I had a brother, not brothers in blood.

Loved one another though we scraped in the mud.

He never gave in, he never gave out

But oh how I miss him now that he’s not about

My brother is gone, died in a tent.

My brother lives on in the letters he sent.

Even the fallen are part of it all.

I had a sister, danced in a field

Danced along with her, her heart was her shield.

She was a woman, she was a friend

Ideas, convictions, she would not bend

So full of valor, standing so strong.

Before I could tell her, she sang her last song.

Even the fallen are part of it all.

Fighting for freedom, so we can stand tall.

They were falling but not falling in vain

On a wide open plain, so the rose can bloom again.

Now, I’ve got their pictures saved on my phone.

Call out their names when I’m here all alone.

Wait for an answer, the midnight chill.

A stir in my heart dancing there still.

Even the fallen are part of it all.

Fighting for freedom so we can stand tall.

Never a question, never a cry

Even the fallen are part of it all

Even the fallen are part of us all
