It is funny …. I never thought I would say this …. I am older now and have been out of the business of song writing for a bit. Well, more that a bit really …. more like a decade. Took a detour into teaching at the college level, trying to instill creative thinking, critical decision making and knowledge of the media industry into students of all ages. Most wanted to learn, those who didn’t were frustrating … mostly because, in many cases, I could see their possibilities … but they couldn’t. And, as it was my job to try and make them see their own talent … perhaps I failed them. But when it comes down to it, you have to want to learn.
So, now that I am getting back into this crazy music business, I am in the students position … learning what has changed in the industry since I was last fully involved (and it is a lot), learning to play and sing again …but most of all, trying to craft meaningful music that people can relate to. It is hard work and I still do not ever seem to have enough time to devote to it. But, I WANT TO LEARN … and so, I keep at it.
Hopefully, when the new songs are released, you will at the very least appreciate them. Music is something we all need in our lives …. especially now.
